HALIFAX -- Zachary Fucale stopped 33 shots through regulation and overtime and 10 more in the shootout as the Halifax Mooseheads edged the visiting Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2-1 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. Rookie defenceman Jesse Lussier scored the shootout winner for the Mooseheads (3-3-0), who have won back-to-back contests after dropping three of four games to start the season, while Andrew Ryan recorded his fourth goal of the campaign. Denis Gorbunov supplied the offence for the Drakkar (2-2-2), who have lost four times already this season by just one goal. Simon Lemieux turned away 31 shots in a losing cause. The game started off chippy as six fighting majors were handed out in the opening 20 minutes. Halifax outshot the Drakkar 13-7 and Ryan found the back of the net at 10:20 while on the power play to give the Mooseheads a 1-0 lead heading into the second period. The second was just as rough, which led to both clubs getting chances on the power play. But, Fucale and Simon held their ground and it remained a one-goal game after 40 minutes. Gorbunov finally got to Fucale when he beat him at 6:32 of the third period to tie the game 1-1. After Fucale and Simon combined to stop the first 19 shooters in the shootout, Lussier beat Simon in the tenth round. The teams combined for 98 minutes in penalties, including 13 majors.
